Fine Arts

Crocker Art Ark

Crocker Art Ark updates their installation every-2-years, and MME PTA is proud to bring the Crocker Art Museum’s mobile art education center to our school in 2019-2029.  The installation beginning Fall 2019 is American Narratives – an interactive exhibition that invites students to study the lives and art of North American artists. Students will build visual literacy skills as they explore how art can tell the stories of the diverse people who call this country home.

Fine Arts Grants to Teachers

Fine Arts

MME PTA is pleased to offer a Fine Arts Grant to each classroom.  Fine arts include visual (painting, clay, etc.), performing arts (dance, movement, music or drama) or literary arts (creative writing, poetry, literary arts, etc.).  Teachers may choose to use this money in their individual classroom or collaborate with their grade levels for a larger effort; our hope is that this will allow greater flexibility and diversity in enriching our students’ educational experience.

Student Talent Show & Art Gallery

Join us on Friday, May 31st, 2019 for the Annual MME Student Talent Show & Art Gallery!  Our talented MME kids will submit personal artwork or will put together a performance, and this is the night they get to showcase their talent for their family and friends!

Auditions for the Talent Show are usually held in early April, with weekly rehearsals leading up to performance night.  The application for artwork (painting, drawing, poetry, ceramics, sculpture, photography, etc.) is usually due in mid-May, with final artwork due approximately one week before the gallery opening.

Missoula Children’s Theatre

The PTA has been proud to host a one-week residency of the Missoula Children’s Theatre at MME.  It is true…in a single week, 50-60 MME students from all grades (K-6th) are cast on Monday, will rehearse throughout the week – learning lines, songs and choreography, and perform in a full-length musical on Saturday.  All of the Missoula Children’s Theater shows are original adaptations of children’s stories and fairytales – a twist on the classic stories that you know and love.

For those of you who have participated in the past, you know how amazing this whole process is…it really happens in just one week.  The Missoula Children’s Theatre Tour team of two professional tour actors/directors will arrive at MME in their little red truck with scenery, costumes, props, make-up and basic lighting—everything it takes to put on a play . . . except the cast.  It is truly incredible that on Monday, they’re cast as characters, and by Saturday, they’ve gained character – the kind that really counts!!  Click here to see a short video of how it all works.
