Briefly, the auction fire sale is live and there’s a new request for a volunteer yearbook coordinator.

1. MME Auction Fire Sale is Now Live!

Weren’t able to join us for the MME Annual Auction this year, but looking for ways to continue supporting the school? Now is your chance – our fire sale is now live! We will keep the fire sale open for one week, through Feb. 24. Quantities are limited on many of the items, so don’t wait too long before checking out the catalog!

Top Items Remaining Include:

• Fund-a-Need: Did you know an estimated 75% of the school day is spent engaged in listening activities? We’re asking MME families to help us purchase new microphones for the school! About a decade ago, all MME classrooms were equipped with microphones and speaker systems, and now most are starting to glitch. These systems are very expensive, so we’re continuing our Fund-a-Need from last year.

• Teacher Outings: There are still spaces available to sign your students up for the TK, Maestra Diaz, Maestro Lemes, 2nd, 3rd, Maestra Rojo, and 6th grade teacher outings. There is also the option to cover sponsorship fees, so teachers can invite additional students to participate.

• Adult Outings: We also have spaces in the outings we created for MME families to get to know one another better outside of the school setting – a yoga class on Feb. 21 and PureBarre on March 9!

• Maestra Reyes Families: Each student created individual smoothie glasses, plus we have one art project the entire class contributed to.

• Maestro Brickman Families: Each student created individual keychains. You can order your child’s personal art and we’ll ensure it’s delivered to you.

• Summer Camps, Museum Memberships, Tutoring Services & Baskets: Check out a few remaining packages your family can enjoy!

2. Circulo de Lectura coordinators needed for the 2025-2026 school year

Good news! One volunteer has committed to lead Círculo next year! THANK YOU! But they need a partner who can help with communications.  Can you help with this piece of the leadership job to keep Círculo running smoothly for MME Kids?

Círculo is a critical program for students in K – 3rd grades which helps students improve fluency, vocabulary and build confidence through daily reading practice.  It is a shining star in our MME PTA programs and much appreciated by MME teachers and educators. The benefits of this program support all MME students well beyond 3rd grade.  And Círculo is 100% volunteer powered, so we need your help! Please email the PTA at mmekids@gmail.com if you can help.

3. Yearbook design volunteer needed!

Our longtime yearbook design volunteer has moved on and we need a new person to help with this year’s yearbook. This is a low time commitment because two generous MME staff members will help you, but we need one volunteer to coordinate. Design deadlines are approaching in early March so we are hoping to find someone in the next week. If your students love their yearbook, help get this year’s into their hands! 4. Donate Your Old Bikes to Earn Money for MME!

Every year Cesar Chavez Elementary runs a bike sale fundraiser and their PTA generously offers to share a portion of bike sales with other schools. If your family has old bikes to donate or trade in, you can request that those bike sales be credited back to our MME PTA. CCE’s bike sale this year will be Sunday April 6, 2025, with bike drop off starting Saturday April 5, 2025. Visit the CCE Bike Swap website for more information. CCE asks that participating PTAs send at least one volunteer to help with the bike swap; to sign up for a shift if interested please visit their Sign Up Genius

• Become a member of the 2023-2024 MME PTA by filling out a quick google form and paying the $12 Annual Membership fee.

• Attend monthly PTA meetings (in person or on Zoom)

• Participate in PTA fundraisers

• Do you shop at Nugget? If so, you can support MME while you shop at no cost via Nugget’s Community Scrip Program. Pick up a Nugget Scrip card at the MME office. All you do is hand your scrip card to the cashier to scan and a portion of your grocery transaction.

ACTUALIZACIONES DE ESTA SEMANA: ¡La venta de liquidación de la subasta de MME ya está disponible! ¿No pudiste unirte a nosotros en la subasta anual de MME este año, pero buscas formas de seguir apoyando a la escuela? Ahora es tu oportunidad: ¡nuestra venta de liquidación ya está disponible! Compre los artículos restantes de la subasta de este año para ayudarnos a alcanzar nuestros objetivos de recaudación de fondos antes de cerrar este evento. Visita: https://mmepta.schoolauction.net/2025starrynight/catalog  Mantendremos la venta de liquidación abierta durante una semana, hasta el 24 de febrero. Las cantidades son limitadas en muchos de los artículos, ¡así que no espere demasiado antes de revisar el catálogo! Los principales elementos restantes incluyen: Fund-a-Need: ¿Sabías que aproximadamente el 75% del día escolar se dedica a actividades de escucha? ¡Estamos pidiendo a las familias de MME que nos ayuden a comprar nuevos micrófonos para la escuela! Hace aproximadamente una década, todas las aulas de MME estaban equipadas con micrófonos y sistemas de altavoces, y ahora la mayoría están empezando a fallar. Salidas para adultos: También tenemos espacios en las salidas que creamos para que las familias de MME se conozcan mejor fuera del entorno escolar: ¡una clase de yoga el 21 de febrero y PureBarre el 9 de marzo!

Familias de Maestra Reyes: Cada estudiante creó vasos de batido individuales, además tenemos un proyecto de arte en el que contribuyó toda la clase.

Familias Maestro Brickman: Cada estudiante creó llaveros individuales. Puede solicitar el arte personal de su hijo y nos aseguraremos de que se lo entreguemos.

Campamentos de verano, membresías para museos, servicios de tutoría y canastas: ¡consulte algunos de los paquetes restantes que su familia puede disfrutar!

3. ¡Se necesita voluntario para el diseño del anuario!

Nuestro voluntario de diseño del anuario de toda la vida ha seguido adelante y necesitamos una nueva persona para ayudar con el anuario de este año. Este es un compromiso de poco tiempo porque dos generosos miembros del personal de MME lo ayudarán, pero necesitamos un voluntario para coordinar. Las fechas límite de diseño se acercan a principios de marzo, por lo que esperamos encontrar a alguien la próxima semana. Si a sus estudiantes les encanta su anuario, ¡ayúdenos a tener el de este año en sus manos! Envíenos un correo electrónico a mmekids@gmail.com si puede ayudar.

4. ¡Done sus bicicletas viejas para ganar dinero para MME!

Cada año, la Escuela Primaria César Chávez organiza una recaudación de fondos para la venta de bicicletas y su PTA ofrece generosamente compartir una parte de las ventas de bicicletas con otras escuelas. Si su familia tiene bicicletas viejas para donar o canjear, puede solicitar que esas ventas de bicicletas se acrediten a nuestra PTA de MME. La venta de bicicletas de CCE este año será el domingo 6 de abril de 2025, y la entrega de bicicletas comenzará el sábado 5 de abril de 2025.
