MME Music Program

MME has a music program!

The enrollment window is from 9/9 to 9/16. You must enroll to join this program.

Lessons will begin the week of September 29th. We can’t wait to make music with you! 

              

Welcome to DJUSD Elementary Music Program for the 2025–2026 school year! Students in grades 4–6 have the opportunity to participate in a variety of music classes:

Strings – Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass (Double Bass is for 5th or 6th graders only). To enroll – attend a required parent meeting, get your child measured, then enroll online.

Band – Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone (6th grade continuers only), Trumpet, Trombone, and Snare Drum. To enroll – attend a required parent meeting, then enroll online.

Choir – open to all interested 4-6th gr. students – No experience needed. To enroll – no meeting required, just enroll online when the link opens.

📅 Required Family Information Meetings (Band & Strings only)

  • Dates: September 8, 9, or 10, 2025
  • Time: 6:30–7:15 PM
  • Location: DHS Brunelle Theater

A video version with multilingual support will be available on the DJUSD Elementary Music Website.

📏 String Instrument Measuring is required for students selecting a string instrument: (takes only a few minutes)

  • September 8, 9, 10, at 3:30–6:15 PM, at Brunelle Theater stage (prior to evening meetings)
  • During this time, students interested in band instruments can explore the instruments with High School students in the Band room.

Please note: continuing students who are already playing a full-size instrument do not need to attend the measuring session.

Grades Kinder through 3rd have music once a week during school rotations with one of our wonderful music instructors. 

Strings and Choir

Strings and Choir are offered for 4th -6th grades. They are both pull out programs, which means that signing up for them is optional, and your child is pulled from class once a week for about 30 minutes to participate. Strings options are cello, violin, viola, and bass. There are normally 2 evening concerts every year. 

Band

Band is offered for 5th and 6th grade students. You must choose between strings and band, but can ALSO do choir if desired. Band includes other instruments such as flute, trumpet, clarinet, drums, saxophone (6th grade), bassoon (6th only), and others. There are normally 2 evening concerts every year.
