What is the Mustang Fun Run?
The Mustang Run is our school’s current largest fundraiser. Kids raise money for our school by participating in a fun running event. Donations are usually a flat amount instead of per lap to encourage all skill levels. This is a fundraiser that the kids can feel directly involved in that raises money for MME. Last year, we raised $20,989! Our goal is to meet or beat that this year!
Donations are made by friends and family directly to MME PTA on the square site, or on 99pledges (if you want to keep track of how much your child has raised). Our MME kids have the opportunity to run for their school (10-20 minutes and entirely optional) to know they helped to get money pledged to them for their efforts!
The Fun Run happens on Friday, the final day of spirit week. On that Friday, classes will take turns running. Parents and volunteers work to make the field fun and exciting with decorations, bubbles and music. After the race kids get an otter pop and participation prize. There will also be a grand prize of a Kona Ice party for 3-5 classes!
Do you need parents and guardians for this event?
We couldn’t do it without you, and this funds our classroom supplies, books, and field trips among other things.
Please consider signing up to volunteer and be a part of the fun! Volunteers can help with preparations before the event, during, and after. We make decorations for spirit week and for the day of the run. We need help with setting up the track, marking laps, operating bubble blowers, cheering kids on, refilling water bottles, and more. Volunteer positions are broken up by race and grade.
While the Mustang Run is a fun community building event, it is also a fundraiser. This year we will be using 99pledges to collect online donations. Students will not be added to 99pledges without parental consent. If you would like to donate by cash or check instead of through the 3rd party site, 99pledges, you absolutely can! Please include your child or teacher’s name. Donations can only be accepted by the front office, on 99pledges, or online via MME PTA square site. Do not give donations to your teachers. Please make all checks payable to MME PTA.
What if I have more questions about the run?
Great! Here are some answers below to common questions, or just email and ask us!
I need a little help navigating the 99 Pledge website
Sign up directly on the online platform, 99pledges. Scroll down and click on the red button that says “add participant”)
Enter child/student information. Once added, friends and family can contribute by searching by the child/student name.
I added my child, how do I share with friends and family?
I lost the permission slip. Where can I get another?
You can get another permission slip from your teacher, the office, or email the PTA to send you one. Here is a link to the 99 Pledges donation form.
Here is a link to the form that gives you permission to participate in any PTA event. participant_volunteer_waiver_forms
Can I attend the Mustang Run even if I don’t volunteer?
No. We have been told that it is against the law to loiter nearby a school when it is in session. While the school is making use of the Montgomery Soccer Field, which we have reserved, it is considered an extension of the school so loitering around the field is also prohibited. Want to attend? Please consider volunteering. One of the jobs includes cheering kids on! If you can’t stay for the whole shift or need some other accommodation just note it on the sign-up sheet. When you arrive that morning, you need to check in with the office before heading out to the field.
