DnD Club–
Who: Any MME kiddo grades 2nd-6th (or adult volunteer). No previous experience needed!
What you need to join: Nothing! You can bring your own dice if you want: one each of a 20 sided, 12 sided, 10 sided, 8 sided, 6 sided, and 4 sided dice for a complete set. A character sheet is provided, and there is spare dice for those who need them. Upon joining, one of the adult facilitators will help the participant create their character.
When & Where: Every other week schedule is generally followed (Sept 11, Sept 25, Oct 2). (Once you come to a meeting they send email updates if dates change).
Don’t worry about missing a session, all stories and encounters are made with flexibility in mind.
How: Attendees are divided into groups of 3-6 players, who will proceed through smaller encounters with influence on a wider ranging environment, led by adult volunteers. Some groups can be led by volunteer 5th or 6th graders depending on their experience and interest in leading the story for a group. There is no set story, it is developed over time based on the actions and outcomes determined by the players.
Art Club-
Who: Any MME student who would like to join. (Please note for TK and Kinder students, your adult may be asked to accompany you depending on student numbers). We would LOVE extra adult volunteers to help.
What do you need to join? Nothing is needed to join. Donated paper and art supplies are appreciated. This club is intended to be a maker’s space. You bring whatever art project you are working on (preferably not a messy one!). If you don’t have a current project, we will have paper, pencils, and markers to create with.
When and Where: We will have art club in the art room (C-1, in the first grade courtyard), every other week right after school (2:35-4:00). We will stagger with DnD club so that kids will be able to participate in both clubs if they want to! Our first meeting will be October 2nd.
How: One parent will be in the art room to help and supervise kids who are ready to focus in on their art pieces. This will be a self-directed space, with assistance and occasional planned projects.
Why: Art is awesome! Art can be used for self expression, coordination, processing our emotions, and so much more.
