What is walker creek?
Walker creek is an outdoor space owned by Marin County Office of Education. Our student’s trip to this space will involve nature walks, outdoor education, nature guides, and bunkhouses!
Fundraising for Walker Creek:
Mendocino Farms Sandwich Shop had a fundraiser for Walker Creek Wednesday October 29th, 2 pm-close. English Flier, Spanish Flier
The bake sale is complete at the Autumn Dance, and our Carousel Fundraiser will happen November 5th.
Our 6th grade class goes to Walker creek every school year. The trip is in late winter (January-February) for 4 days (3 nights). Exact dates and details change each year, and 6th grade families will get information directly from their teachers as the scheduled trip approaches.

Do parents go on this trip?
No, this trip includes any student from the 6th grade who would like to go, all 6th grade teachers, a DJUSD nurse, and trained DJUSD high school students to help chaperone students. The site provides staff to lead outdoor activities and nature walks.
Do I need to pay for this trip?
NO. EVERY CHILD WHO WOULD LIKE TO GO CAN GO, REGARDLESS OF THE COST.
The trip is a few hundred per student, and the district would like every school site to fundraise or directly donate toward that cost. If you can afford to donate the cost of your student’s trip, wonderful. If you can’t, that is not a problem. The goal is to get the entire 6th grade class out and into nature. The district asks that 6th grade families make some effort to set up fundraisers to help offset costs of the trip. Each year this looks different depending on the families involved. PTA can help provide ideas of what has been done previously.
How do our kids get to the site?
Historically MME PTA has paid for a bus. We have a few too many students in the 2025-2026 school year for a bus to meet our needs, so some students may go on a supplemental van as well. Please feel free to donate to the MME PTA to help offset this cost, if you are able!
