Mustang Fun Run

WHEN: FRIDAY OCTOBER 23, 2026

WHERE: FIELD BEHIND MONTGOMERY ELEMENTARY

What is the Mustang Run?

The Mustang Run is MME’s annual Fall fundraiser and community celebration. The money raised during this event helps fund school art programs, field trips, classroom supplies, family fun events, SEAL, Baile Folklorico, and more. (Note: this is a free event and donations are not required to participate).

The festivities kick off with a school spirit week (October 19th– October 23rd) and ends with our Fun Run (October 23rd), where students get to run/walk outside for with their classmates and teachers/staff. The students have a blast running/walking to music under rainbow arches and bubbles while their parents/teachers/community cheers them on.

When is our Fun Run?

The 2026 Mustang Fun Run will take place on Friday, October 23rd from 8:30 am to 1 pm.

Spirit Week is Monday, October 19th – Friday, October 23rd. Click here to see 2026 spirit week themes.

Why do we have a Mustang Fun Run?

The funds raised during this event help purchase our classroom supplies, books, and field trips among other things. In 2025 we were able to raise over $23,000 for our school!

Do we need volunteers for this event?

We couldn’t do it without you. Please consider signing up to volunteer and be a part of the fun! Volunteers can help with preparations before the event, during, and after.. We need help with setting up the track, operating bubble blowers, cheering kids on, refilling water bottles, and more. Volunteer positions are broken up by race time and grade. If you want to come and just watch your kiddo run, that is perfectly ok! You just sign up for one of the “cheer” volunteer slots so we know you’ll be on campus that day.

Can I attend the Mustang Run even if I don’t volunteer?

No. We have been told that it is against the law to loiter nearby a school when it is in session. While the school is making use of the Montgomery Soccer Field, which we have reserved, it is considered an extension of the school so loitering around the field is also prohibited. Want to attend? Please consider volunteering.  One of the jobs includes cheering kids on! If you can’t stay for the whole shift or need some other accommodation  just note it on the sign-up sheet. When you arrive that morning, you need to check in with the office before heading out to the field.

Do the students get prizes?

After the run ends kids get an otter pop and participation prize. There will also be a grand prize of a Kona Ice party for 3 classes with the most participation in spirit week!

How do you gather the donations for this event?

While the Mustang Run is a fun community building event, it is also a fundraiser. Most donations are made on a third party platform called 99Pledges. This platform makes it easy for friends and family to get online and donate, and to track how much money your student has made for your school. Students will not be added to 99pledges without parental consent. If you would like to donate by cash or check instead of through the 3rd party site, 99pledges you absolutely can! You can also donate on the MME PTA square site, or in the office by check made out to MME PTA (please include your child or teacher’s name on the envelope). Please do not give donations to your teachers.

How does 99 pledges work?

Sign up directly on the online platform, 99Pledges or return the orange registration sheet that was sent home to students to the front office.

If registering online, on the 99pledges website, scroll down and click on the red button that says “add participant”. Enter child/student information. Once added, friends and family can contribute by searching by the child/student name.

I lost the permission slip. Where can I get another?

You can pick up another permission slip from the front office, or email the PTA to send you one.

Here is a link to the form that gives you permission to participate in any PTA event. participant_volunteer_waiver_forms
